When someone coughs or exhales, they release droplets of fluid. Most of these droplets fall on nearby surfaces and objects, such as desks, tables or keyboards. Since viruses can live on surfaces such as wood and metal for 4-5 days, other people could become infected by touching contaminated surfaces or objects, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.

Open UV luminaires
By installing open UV-C disinfection fixtures on walls or ceilings, the entire exposed surface, and the airborne microorganisms, are directly exposed to high intensities of UV-C light. As a result, strong reduction in the number of microorganisms is achieved very quickly. An additional advantage is that directly exposed surfaces are also disinfected. In this form of disinfection, no people or animals can be present without protective measures.
These can be positioned centrally in a standard-sized room to inactivate viruses and bacteria on surfaces. Safeguard controls include a timer to plan disinfection for a predefined period, remote control and motion sensors.

Applications of UV-C Lamps
UV-C can be used in the transportation sector to disinfect interior surfaces in between rides. It also has applications in the retail (shopping carts, counters), industry and offices sectors
In the food industry, UV -C can disinfect transport belts and packaging materials (yoghurt cups, drinking bottles etc.). It can also be used to directly treat products to increase shelf life and preserve nutritional value (fewer preservatives required).
For household equipment such as baby bottle sterilizers, dish dryers, etc., UV-C offers extra security after cleaning and helps to maintain a clean surface during storage.
